Nicole and her shadow…

Well still waiting to get this new painting started, so here’s Nicole and her shadows, or reminescence of her passage, footsteps….the background is increasingly moving, fading or not, I’m not quite set on the degree of fading her shadow will have…

Kristen…a few days ago…

Kept working on another painting, hopefully, I will be able to post it later today, finished and signed, and also worked on a new projected one, mixed techniques, but still in the photoshop stage…it will star later this week probably, so here’s for the ‘what’s coming soon on this screen…:))), but I had still to show the latest version of Kristen, this acrylic that is becoming more an oil painting….it is coming good, I think…not that it wasn’t good, just a short slipping away, that is gone now…the photo…

Waiting for a new one…Alicia’s pastel

Did a bit of pastel, all day long, on and off, Alicia, it is coming along pretty good,…besides that I started working on a new one, I’m still at the stage where I’m preparing the sketch in photoshop….sizing, correcting, and others things…

Il shall be another acrylic…but this time, I am leaning toward more of a mixed technique approach, watercolor color paper, pasted on canvas, sketched with watercolor, I am not a watercolorist per say, I am not using it often, and when I do it is more for sketching, but this time as I did a few times so far, I will finish it with acrylic, two water base medium, and the way I’m working with acrylic, it is often very diluted…maybe that why it seems to me, that often I have problems working in acrylic, and I am often tempted to finish them in oils…more later on that…and later this week-end, another version of Kristen, now Alicia’s pastel, the last two versions

Tale of a forecasted disaster…:)

Like I did wrote a few days ago, some things started bothering me with this painting of Kristen, don’t know why, contrary to most of painters I know working with acrylic, more I worked on a painting, seems to me the colors are not taking a more vivid look, contrast is fading, and of course I still don’t know how to render folds as good with acrylic than in oils…so I went for oil, knowing that a temporary cost come with this decision…in addition, although her face is well drawned, the proportion and direction of her look wasn’t to my taste, actually it look pretty good on the picture, but it went bad, no picture taken…sometimes I forgot…or don’t want…so went to oil a bit by exasperation, more because I think I can do better in the end with oil paints…

Now the oil version, reworked since…the face is not improving, but it was expected….but I think, therefore I am would have said Descartes, who as far as I know, wasn’t a painter…so back to painting, the ligth, contrast and softness of the folds of her dress are improving, at least to my eye, so there is ligth, not at the end of the tunnel, but at the end of my brushes loaded with oil paint…

Kristen or the dancer?…hum why not Alicia!

Seems I could not get decided if I should work on either one…so, went you can decide which one to choose, maybe it is time to work on something quite different, and these days pastel, which I kind of rediscovered last few weeks , does seem to be a good answer to this ambivalence…so I did work on this Alicia Silverstone pastel’s, did not advance or change it very much, the pace tonight was more quiet, almost peaceful…but not quite, more quiet than peaceful…so, a bit of dirt on my finger here a post about this pastel, the follow up on Kristen, will be for the next few days….

The dancer, she’s back…

While I’m still working on this painting of Kristen, I’m writing more about this dancer, posting the last two versions of this painting, I think a few things have improved, enough to say that it is finished, I will know when this painting will have went all around my atelier, with the many in progress work, circling my place….then I will probably know, yes or no…

Kristen…a break dance..oops break from the dancer

In fact did reworked on this dancer with the ‘bizarre leg’…but as I wrote a few days ago, I’ve decided, that it would be easier for me to keep some work in ‘reserve’, and post it even on days where time is shorter….according to Einstein it is possible…I don’t need the relativity theory to believe it..so back to painting, so the dancer will be back in a few days…in the meantime, kristen is back, it is going good, but, there is often or always a but….the meaning of this ‘oui mais’ will come in a future post, let’s just say that I don’t know, it is often the case, when to stop…what happened? Guess you will have to watch for a future post…I’m sorry for the wait, it is my marketing manager….who suggested that…:))

The lost dancer…

Back to this dancer, did started on fire..but went cold…this painting earlier was very lively, now look that it is missing something…life?

406-21 Danse Huile 28x20(70x50) 2012-01-15

Lifeless to me it was…so why not adding a bit of color and movement, and besides the dancer pose’s seems to me a bit awkward…

406-20 Danse Huile 28x20(70x50) 2012-04-18

Maybe a bit too much of color, actually I like it this way, but it is too soon, I prefer to keep it a bit more subtile at this point, and the pose, did not improbe very much, actually her right leg is worst….now…

Ended up this day between ‘two waters’, better than at the beginning, but it was still better at one point….Einstein wrote that the shortest course in the Universe is a curve one between two points, in my case, with most of my art, it is a more chaotic one…:)
