Must turn the page on this painting, one of my favorites, maybe my favorite, if a draw a similitude between parent and child and artist and his or her works, I heard most of the time that a father or a mother doesn’t have a ‘favorite child’, so in this case I must admit I do have favorites, maybe this painting of Sophie Marceau, isn’t my uttermost favorite but it’s not very far to be it….I know I probably lack objectivity on this and I should be more humble, and be a better critic of my work, but to me this one is a damn good painting, it rank to the top to mo, or maybe it is there with two or three others…

On tourne la page sur ce tableau, un de mes favoris, si je faisais une analogie qu’un artiste est un peu le parent, hum mère ou père selon le cas j’imagine, de ses tableaux, et qu’en principe, un père ou une mère diront presque toujours qu’ils n’ont pas de favoris parmi leurs enfants…eh bien je mentirais, ce tableau de Sophie Marceau m’est très cher, je vais manquer d’autocritique et faire preuve de peu d’humilité….je trouve tout beau dans ce tableau, et le modèle, bien sûr je ne pourrais dire que c’est le ‘top’ de mes tableaux selon moi, mais il fait sûrement partie des 3 ou 4…

Celui-ci a aussi commencé comme un tableau à l’acrylique et encore une fois j’ai décidé que l’huile conviendrait mieux à la manière dont je voulais le rendre, évidemment il a posé de nombreuses difficultés, la pose que prenait Sophie lors de la photo n’était pas tout-à-fait commode à rendre, du moins pour moi, et il m’a fallu beaucoup de temps pour capter la manière dont s’incline son corps vers l’avant, je ne suis bien amusé à peindre ses bottes, sa robe, magnifique; encore une fois le visage et la texture et la lumière de ses cheveux m’ont posé de multiples problèmes…mais je crois que j’ai réussi…après tout j’ai écrit au début que pour cette fois je manquerais d’humilité et dirait que c’est mon meilleur…point, mais il y en a quelques autres que j’aime bien aussi…:)

This one did start also as an acrylic painting, but soon I decided to swithc to oil, I thought it would be more suitable to the type of painting I wanted to do…of course it wasn’t easy to do, her pose gave me quite a lot of problems, trying to catch the way she’s leaning forward, her face and hair were a constant challenge, and as usual I had a lot of fun painting and repainting, positonning her boots…

379 – Sophie Marceau

Mais je me sens un peu triste, je ne la peindrai plus…mais j’ai encore plusieurs photos de la belle Sophie et quelque chose me dit qu’on la reverra, peut-être même à partir d’une autre photo de cette même séance de photo…
I’m feeling a bit sad, thinking I will not work on this painting anymore, but I do have more pics of Sophie, even some of this same photo session, maybe one day, not too far, I will revisit her…:)

Maybe I am a bit of a schizophrenic painter, there must be at least two inside….in my head I guess, one is the quiet and careful one, working on a slower pace, paying more attention to details and having things correctly placed, and the other is the one playing with shapes, lettting color and movement flow all over the canvas, much less worried about gettting it right, he doesn’t mind if the drawing is less than perfect…and more than often they come out and in without letting me know hence my painting can change very radically and suddenly…like tonight

Parfois j’ai l’impression que je suis un peintre un peu schizophrénique…ils sont quelques uns la dedans…la dedans étant ma tête j’imagine…:), parfois je travaille tout en douceur, en faisant bien attention de ne pas chambarder le tableau, en essayant de garder un geste libre mais contrôlé, oui un peu contradictoire mais comme bien du monde, je vis avec mes contradictions…la plupart du temps…:) Donc aujourd’hui je peignais avec un rythme plutôt lent, retenu mais pas trop et soudain paf l’autre peintre qui lui préfère le côté libre au côté contrôlé est sorti sans avertir, mais je pense qu’aujourd’hui c’est lui qui a raison…c’est plus lui qui a tendance à faire ces trainées de lumière et de couleurs qui partent dans toutes les directions, c’est lui aussi qui aime bien tout changer, la composition, la couleur du fond, mais aujourd’hui je pense qu’il s’est tout de même un peu retenu…

Heureusement, ces deux là, non pas les deux Cindys, mais les deux peintres, ou peut-être plus, pas sûr, ils s’entendent bien et ils aiment bien tous les deux peindre des modèles….une chance…

The good thing is that they go along pretty well, not the cindys, my two painters, maybe more than two on some days…but they work well together most of the time, and they both like painting beautiful fashion models wearing boots…sometimes…

Hello, I am in the process of ‘doing some clean up work’ on my sites, too much work to maintain all of these, so since I do have another wordpress page, many of you do know it, and basically they share the same works and page layout, except that one is french first, but alway translated in the same post, and the other, this one is the same; except that english come first…

Well, I think it will be easier for me to maintain just one site on wordpress, so I do hope you will follow to my other page…I will keep running this page for a few weeks yet, but then it will be only my french, actually bilingual, yes I repeating myself…:), don’t worry it is not yet from old age…so a short poll, at the same time it is a test with this application…:)
