The final touch…

It must be the year ending that closing on us, but I do feel the urge to clean my sites, mainly moving works siting in the ‘in progress’ section and who are finished, for a long time now, and also making the little making of film, which comes at the end…

Ce doit être la fin de l’année qui arrive à grand pas, mais je sens le besoin de faire le ménage dans mes sites, entre autres plusieurs toiles et pastels sont dans la section ‘en cours’ et en fait sont terminés, et aussi temps de faire le petit film qui généralement indique la fin….

The final version of this work, I don’t know exactly how to define it, mixed media I guess….watercolor, gouache, masking tape….got to pay attention next time to paste the paper more steadily, it is all wavy and difficult to work, well I guess it was mainly some kind of experiment, with watercolor, gouache and even tape, and white areas where the tape was pasted…a bit of everything….

La version finale de ce sketch en techniques mixtes….comme toujours j’aurais pu encore le peaufiner, mais c’est un sketch enfin peut-être aussi une peinture aquarelle, enfin aquarelle avec un peu d’acrylique et plus de gouache…j’ai aussi appris que je devrai porter une plus grande attention à bien fixer le papier sur son support avant de commencer, et de mieux ‘planifier’ le positionnement du ruban gommé….:) C’est vraiment une peinture techniques mixtes, il y a même du ruban, des zones blanches où il y avait du ruban, j’aurais du peindre le ruban…ou l’enlever, enfin la prochaine fois ce sera mieux planifié…

A bit of gouache?

Sometimes ‘experimentation’ turn out not the way we expected…started as a quick sketch in watercolor, and it was less or more good than I wanted it to be, try to get it right adding acrylic, but still did not like the effect….. So , this morning I was asking myself what to do with this one…first had to paste back the paper on the board, it was hanging by next to nothing, it turned out to be a battle, but at least it is in position; now what can I do to get it right, or try at least… Last time I did venture out in an art supplies store, always scary, always cost me much much more than expected…I remember I bought a few tubes of gouache…opaque and brillant, they say on the paper…so why not giving them a try, and maybe I will end up with something that look more like a painting and less an expirement that went havroc….:)

Une expérience, un sketch commencé à l’aquarelle, qui allait moins que plus bien, tenté de corrigé avec de l’acrylique…puis je l’avais laissé de côté.  Première étape de la reprise…une bataille avec le papier ‘récalcitrant’ qui ne tient que plus non pas par un cheveu, mais un morceau de ruban gommé pour aquarelle…après une dure bataille…il est presque bien attaché au support.  Maintenant que faire de cet essai? le laisser là, ou essayer d’autre chose….par hasard, non pas vraiment par hasard, j’ai acheté lors de mon dernier pérégrinage au magasin d’art, des tubes de gouache, leur opacité et leur brillance, fera peut-être de cet essai une peinture digne de ce nom….:)

And also, since yesterday I did some work on photoshop to prepare the next painting reference photograph, why not showing this model picture too….

Finally, it will be a watercolor…

Still not to good on the production, still to many things keep me away from the easel, but at least did here and there some work on this watercolor, wasn’t sure if it would be mixed media or watercolor, but know it is mainly a watercolor, used a bit of acrylic to correct a few things, but kept mainly working with watercolors. so here’s the latest version, and another slideshow, there was a few versions, don’t know if the last one is better, seems to me that the drawing is better, but did loose something with the colors, I guess I will have to wait a bit to really feel if it is good enough or not…

Toujours pas trop productif, trop de choses me tiennent loin de l’atelier, mais j’ai tout-de-même continué cette aquarelle, oui finalement ce sera une aquarelle, bien utilisé un peu d’acrylique, pour masquer ou éclaircir certaines parties, mais finalement plutôt travaillé essentiellement à l’aquarelle…toujours passablement de difficultés, mais je me suis obstiné à continuer, et finalement je l’aime bien cette peinture….pas parfaite, trop d’erreurs, mais je prends goût à ce médium…donc la prochaine fois que je passerai au magasin d’art, pense que je devrai aller du côté des produits pour l’aquarelle…en plus des autres…:)

La dernière version, et encore une fois le diaporama, il y a eu plusieurs versions, elles ont toutes quelque chose que j’aime, j’espère que la dernière est la meilleure…pense que le dessin est meiux, par contre, les couleurs sont un peu trop atténuées, enfin j’en aurai une meilleure idée dans quelques jours…

Tried out something and I don’t know…

A few days almost weeks without painting or drawing, for all kind of reasons, work, going out…or else, or just plainly sitting there doing nothing and telling myself…draw, paint something…so that night I started late, using watercolor pencils, old, decdes old, not used often, on watercolor paper more suited for quick sketch than finished work..and then I went for my old watercolor paint, got a bit better, but since I’m a bit ‘brouillon’ not to well prepared for watercolors, the paper went bucking, and all kind of thing were not going quite the way I wanted…

Quelques jours, presque semaines où je n’ai pas eu l’occasion de peindre, dessiner, pour toutes sortes de raisons….travail, sorties, pas le feu sacré…..alors un peu tardivement ce soir là, me suis mis à crayonner, sur un papier aquarelle, mais de pauvre qualité, avec mes crayons aquarelle, acheté voilà des décennies mais jamais vraiment utilisé, passé à mes vieux tubes aquarelle, aussi vieux et inutilisé…avec un résultat de reproduction de cette jolie dame bien en deçà de ce que j’espérais, je n’ai jamais été et ne serai jamais un aquarelliste je pense….trop brouillon…

So I added a bit, and more and more acrylic paint…to correct some of those early drawing mistakes…many…it did improve, but I was still not so happy with the result, although I like the feeling of the pose, I guess there always something good in any works of art…at least that what I’m telling myself…

Au moins je me suis dit que c’était un sketch qui pourrait évoluer en quelque chose de mieux, alors commencé à y mettre un peu d’acrylique, travaillé autant à l’acrylique qu’à l’aquarelle, quelque peu amélioré mais pas vraiment à mon goût, et de plus le papier que je n’avais aucune préparé, gondolait sérieusement….

Then try to cover the whole thing with glazing medium, to give a more brillant look to acrylic paint, and in prevision to work more on it…did not take another picture of this, the one below was just before, but I should have know that watercolor paint can be pick off by water or glazing…so a bit of paint lifted off here and there, will have to see what I will do with this ‘try out’…or maybe a pastel, dry pastel would be just fine….

Par la suite, décidé de recouvrir le tout d’un peu de médium acrylique, en vue de le retravailler plus à l’acrylique cette fois ci, mauvaise idée, certaines parties couvertes d’aquarelle, le sont beaucoup moins maintenant…:), j’aurais du réaliser que l’aquarelle peut et sera enlevé, plus ou moins par l’eau ou le médium acrylique…:) décidé de mettre le tout de côté pour le moment….verrai si je poursuis l’expérience…..à moins que je ferais un pastel….
